Canvas Corp's Newest Release: Sugar & Spice

6.30.2015

Hello everyone! Canvas Corp just released their newest collection today called Sugar & Spice and it's a cute one. You can check out the entire collection along with a few projects over at The Creative Studio HERE. I have two different projects being shared over at the blog that I created with the collection. The first is a cute little mini album/brag book that I created with the Baby Girl Fabric Panel.  I absolutely loved creating this, the printed canvas panel was so easy to use and made a fun sewing project.

The second project I created with the Sugar & Spice collection is this cute little Letterbox Painters Tray. I had so much fun using different patterned papers, embellishments, mini fabric canvas shapes, clothespins, and stamps to fill each and every spot.

Canvas Corp has a great range of papers and prints to create the perfect collection for you. Be on the look out for these and more baby girl projects over at The Creative Studio over the next couple of days. I will also be sharing more about these two projects here in a few days. Thanks for visiting.

Sail Away

6.08.2015

Hello everyone! Today I'm playing along with this weeks Simon Says Make It Masculine Challenge over at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog. I rarely create any kind of masculine cards so this challenge was a bit challenging for me. To keep things from getting to complicated I decided to go with a black and ivory color combo. I used a black & ivory chevron patterned paper as my background and add some ivory stitching to the outside edge.

I used the cute masculine little ships wheel image as my main focal image and layered a black piece of patterned paper behind it along with a text image. To tie the nautical theme all together I added a large title towards the bottom of the card. I think the images and the color combo I used really made it a masculine card. Even though I don't create many masculine cards I  really had fun with this challenge. Thanks for visiting.

Boots & Saddle

6.06.2015

Hello everyone! Today I have three different cards to share that I created with Canvas Corp Brands newest release, Boots & Saddle. I just love this collection! If you like adding a western touch or just a sweet and simple country vibe to your projects, this collection is the perfect choice. You can check out the entire collection along with a few projects over at The Creative Studio HERE or over at the Canvas Corp Brands Shop HERE. I'm sharing a quick look at the Boots & Saddle Mix 'n Match Pad below.

The Boots & Saddle Mix 'n Match Pad is filled with almost the entire Boots & Saddle Paper Collection, a Boots & Saddle Printed Fabric piece and matching burlap and flute sheets. The fabric is also available by itself in a 13×17 Panel as well. Below are the three different cards I created with this collection. Check them out.

I just adore this first card. I used one of the sayings from the Boots & Saddle Sayings On Ivory Paper as my main focal image and added some burlap along with some Tattered Angles Mists and embellishments.

To create this second card I used another one of the sayings from the Boots & Saddle Sayings On Ivory Paper as my main focal image. I really wanted to add some color to this one so I used some blue burlap, Tattered Angles Gerber Baseboard Mist, and a multicolored ribbon.

Just like the first two cards I used another one of the sayings as the main focal image. I kept this one pretty simple and just added some Navajo Print Paper as my background. I also added some vellum behind the saying along with some Red Hemp Rope. I really loved creating with this collection, I even have a few more cards and projects in the works.  I hope you enjoyed my three cards today. Thanks for visiting!

CCB Crew Challenge: Save A Recipe

5.03.2015

Hello everyone! Today I have a card and matching drink recipe to share for Canvas Corp's Save A Recipe Challenge over at The Creative Studio. This week we were challenged to share our ideas on how to save recipes in clever and creative ways. I thought it would be fun to create a coordinating card and a drink recipe card that would be a fun way to invite friends or family to a party and share one of your favorite drink recipes as well.

I started by creating the card with one of Canvas Corp's newest collections called Mixology. I used the Mixology Words On White as my background with some citrus and kiwi ink splatters. I then added some Yellow & White Big Strip patterned paper with some lime green stitching and added a few images from the Happy Hour Sayings On White paper.

Since the sentiment on my card reads "When life gives you limes make Margaritas" I used a Lime Margarita recipe for my matching drink recipe card.

Here is a look at the back side of my drink recipe card. I wanted the card and the drink recipe card to match as much as possible so I used the same colored markers and ink for both of them. I hope you enjoyed my two projects today. You can check out the entire challenge and link up your creative ideas on how to save a recipe HERE. Thanks for visiting.

Other Supplies: CTMH Markers- Citrus Leaf, Kiwi, Sunny Yellow, Bamboo / CTMH ReInkers- Citrus Leaf & Kiwi / Black Pen / Sulky Thread- Lime Green / Sewing Machine

National Scrapbook Day Hop 2015

5.02.2015

Happy National Scrapbook Day 2015!! Today, scrapbooking takes on many different forms from the traditional 12x12 layouts to smaller formats like 8.5 x 11, 6x6 and the ever growing popular pocket scrapbooking. Whichever form you prefer, we are all story tellers and love to preserve our family memories for generations to come. That is why I love that we take out the first Saturday each May to celebrate this wonderful hobby. Today I'm sharing this 12 x 12 layout I created using several different mixed media products. I must admit this background started out as an experiment, I wasn't sure if I was going to like it or not but once it was dry I loved it. I got the idea for this layout from watching Missy Whidden's You Tube Videos. She always uses this plastic bag , watercolor, and mist technique to add  color to her backgrounds. You can check out her You Tube videos HERE to see what I'm talking about. When I first saw Missy using this technique I knew I had to try it.

Instead of using a smaller sized plastic bag I used one of those over sized Ziploc bags that are a little bigger then a 12 x 12 sheet of cardstock. I started by randomly misting one side of the Ziploc bag with Tattered Angles Blue Ribbon Chalkboard Mist. Once I had a large area misted I flipped the Ziploc bag over and gently pressed it over my 12 x 12 sheet of teal cardstock. I gently applied pressure to the Ziploc bag with my fingers and moved the mist all around the cardstock to get the look I desired. Once the blue background color was dry I added some stenciling with an old stickers sheet, a Faber-Castell stamper's big brush pen, and a black pen.

To add another texture to my background I added some text stamping in black right over all my stenciling and misted background. And I couldn't resist adding in some vellum, acrylic, and wood veneer embellishments. Below is a close up of the title area...I used some bright pink glittered Thickers from American Crafts, which I sprayed with the same Tattered Angles Blue Ribbon Chalkboard Mist I used for my background.

As you hang out at crops at your Local Scrapbooking Store or perhaps just have a group of friends over for an in home crop, we have a wonderful hop here to inspire you as you pull out your pictures, papers, embellishments and the ever important adhesive to hold all these together and tell your stories! We have a great group of bloggers and scrapbookers just like you joining us today so I hope you will take a moment to visit each one.

Be Your Own Kind Of Beautiful

4.26.2015

Hello everyone! Today I'm sharing an inspirational card for this weeks Simon Says Clean and Simple Challenge over at the Simon Says Stamp Stamp Wednesdays Challenge Blog. I love any kind of challenge that has clean and simple in the title so I just had to whip up a card to share. I've had this fabulous stamp set and damask tissuestock from Canvas Corp sitting on my desk for a week or two now. I thought it was about time I used them so I went ahead and used them for this challenge. I started by wrinkling up a square piece of the damask tissuestock and then straight stitched it to the cardbase. Then I cut, stamped,  distressed, and stitched around the edges of a panel of black thickstock. I added the panel to the center of my tissuestock. I pulled out some ivory cardstock and stamped all of my images in black. Then I cut each one out, distressed the edges and added them to the card front.

Above is a closer look at the stamped images. I hope you enjoyed my inspirational card today! Thanks for visiting!
