CCB Crew Challenge: Save A Recipe

5.03.2015

Hello everyone! Today I have a card and matching drink recipe to share for Canvas Corp's Save A Recipe Challenge over at The Creative Studio. This week we were challenged to share our ideas on how to save recipes in clever and creative ways. I thought it would be fun to create a coordinating card and a drink recipe card that would be a fun way to invite friends or family to a party and share one of your favorite drink recipes as well.

I started by creating the card with one of Canvas Corp's newest collections called Mixology. I used the Mixology Words On White as my background with some citrus and kiwi ink splatters. I then added some Yellow & White Big Strip patterned paper with some lime green stitching and added a few images from the Happy Hour Sayings On White paper.

Since the sentiment on my card reads "When life gives you limes make Margaritas" I used a Lime Margarita recipe for my matching drink recipe card.

Here is a look at the back side of my drink recipe card. I wanted the card and the drink recipe card to match as much as possible so I used the same colored markers and ink for both of them. I hope you enjoyed my two projects today. You can check out the entire challenge and link up your creative ideas on how to save a recipe HERE. Thanks for visiting.

National Scrapbook Day Hop 2015

5.02.2015

Happy National Scrapbook Day 2015!! Today, scrapbooking takes on many different forms from the traditional 12x12 layouts to smaller formats like 8.5 x 11, 6x6 and the ever growing popular pocket scrapbooking. Whichever form you prefer, we are all story tellers and love to preserve our family memories for generations to come. That is why I love that we take out the first Saturday each May to celebrate this wonderful hobby. Today I'm sharing this 12 x 12 layout I created using several different mixed media products. I must admit this background started out as an experiment, I wasn't sure if I was going to like it or not but once it was dry I loved it. I got the idea for this layout from watching Missy Whidden's You Tube Videos. She always uses this plastic bag , watercolor, and mist technique to add  color to her backgrounds. You can check out her You Tube videos HERE to see what I'm talking about. When I first saw Missy using this technique I knew I had to try it.

Instead of using a smaller sized plastic bag I used one of those over sized Ziploc bags that are a little bigger then a 12 x 12 sheet of cardstock. I started by randomly misting one side of the Ziploc bag with Tattered Angles Blue Ribbon Chalkboard Mist. Once I had a large area misted I flipped the Ziploc bag over and gently pressed it over my 12 x 12 sheet of teal cardstock. I gently applied pressure to the Ziploc bag with my fingers and moved the mist all around the cardstock to get the look I desired. Once the blue background color was dry I added some stenciling with an old stickers sheet, a Faber-Castell stamper's big brush pen, and a black pen.

To add another texture to my background I added some text stamping in black right over all my stenciling and misted background. And I couldn't resist adding in some vellum, acrylic, and wood veneer embellishments. Below is a close up of the title area...I used some bright pink glittered Thickers from American Crafts, which I sprayed with the same Tattered Angles Blue Ribbon Chalkboard Mist I used for my background.

As you hang out at crops at your Local Scrapbooking Store or perhaps just have a group of friends over for an in home crop, we have a wonderful hop here to inspire you as you pull out your pictures, papers, embellishments and the ever important adhesive to hold all these together and tell your stories! We have a great group of bloggers and scrapbookers just like you joining us today so I hope you will take a moment to visit each one.

Be Your Own Kind Of Beautiful

4.26.2015

Hello everyone! Today I'm sharing an inspirational card for this weeks Simon Says Clean and Simple Challenge over at the Simon Says Stamp Stamp Wednesdays Challenge Blog. I love any kind of challenge that has clean and simple in the title so I just had to whip up a card to share. I've had this fabulous stamp set and damask tissuestock from Canvas Corp sitting on my desk for a week or two now. I thought it was about time I used them so I went ahead and used them for this challenge. I started by wrinkling up a square piece of the damask tissuestock and then straight stitched it to the cardbase. Then I cut, stamped,  distressed, and stitched around the edges of a panel of black thickstock. I added the panel to the center of my tissuestock. I pulled out some ivory cardstock and stamped all of my images in black. Then I cut each one out, distressed the edges and added them to the card front.

Above is a closer look at the stamped images. I hope you enjoyed my inspirational card today! Thanks for visiting!

CCB Crew Challenge: Invites

4.12.2015

Hello everyone! Today I have a couple of baby invites and a cute little matching baby announcement to share. I created these for this weeks Crew Challenge over at The Creative Studio Blog. This weeks challenge is called "Invite Us" and its all about invites. You can find the challenge HERE

I found these fabulous printable party invitations over at HGTV under their Party Planning 101 section and just had to use them. They are a simple chevron-patterned invitation in a variety of vibrant hues, including yellow, orange, turquoise and pink. I printed out the turquoise ones thinking the color would match my patterned paper but the color was a little to bright so I ended up covering the printed pattern at the bottom with my patterned paper. I also cut and added a little matching banner to the top left of my invitations along with a gold star embellishment.

After I had my invitations made I thought it would be fun to create a few matching baby announcements. I found this adorable little baby diaper pattern on Pinterest one day as I was browsing through some DIY projects and ended up pining it to one of my boards. The tutorial is in Spanish but once you print the pattern its pretty easy to create. If you end up printing the pattern make sure you select fit to page otherwise the pattern will end up printing off the page. I went with some fun polka dot patterned paper from Canvas Corp for the outside of  the pattern and a ivory cardstock for the inside. I also stamped the insert with a baby announcement stamp and added some ribbon and a little tag to the outside. You can check out a close up of the insert below.

Thanks for visiting and don't forget to stop by The Creative Studio to check out the rest of the design teams invites.

CCB Crew Challenge: Kids Can Do It

4.08.2015

Hello everyone! I created this colorful little hair tie for this weeks Crew Challenge over at The Creative Studio Blog. This week we were challenged to share some fun creative ideas for kids that they would be proud of to create. Since I don't have any little ones at home I attempted this challenge on my own. I thought I would go with something that was cute, bright, and super easy to create that any little girl would love. Every little girl loves colorful hair ties and headbands, so I went with that. Below are a few step by step photos and tutorial.

Step 1.  Die cut or punch five circles out of a hot pink burlap sheet.

Step 2. Stack the circles and punch a hole in the center of them. I  stacked two at a time and punched a hole in the middle of them with my Crop-A-Dile

Step 3  Cut an opening in your hair tie and thread both ends through all five burlap circles.

Step 4. Thread one side of the hair tie through the back of the button and tie it to the other side. After you have both ends of your hair tie tied together and your button attached trim the end pieces so they are not showing. Thats it you have a completed hair tie that any little girl would love. You could even use this same tutorial and create a grown up version of this that any teenager or women would love to wear. Canvas Corp offers a wide range of canvas and paper items that are just waiting to be painted, stamped, inked, misted and more and the end result can be amazing. Check out all the items in the shop HERE. Thanks for visiting!

Oceans

3.29.2015

Hello everyone! On Monday I shared a fun colorful Nautical themed card that I created with one of Canvas Corp's newest collections. Today I'm sharing another Nautical themed card with a Natural color combo. Below are a few step by step photos and tutorial.

Step 1: Stamp the entire 5 x 7 kraft card front with a text stamp in a chocolate ink. After the card front is stamped mist and splatter with Tattered Angles Roll Top Glimmer mist.

Step 2: Cut out one of the patterned pages and one of the banner images from the little chocolate pages on ivory paper. Stamp the Oceans sentiment from the Under The Sea stamp set onto the ivory banner in chocolate ink.

Step 3: Cut out the sea shell image from the Sand & Sea Pages on kraft. Mist with Tattered Angles Roll Top Desk Glimmer mist. To get even coverage use a paint brush to blend the mist into the paper.

Step 4: After the sea shell paper has dried attach it to the patterned page you cut out in step 2.

Step 5: Add some stitching around the panels edges with some ivory thread.

Step 6: Attach the stamped banner to the upper right side of the panel. Tie and attach a bow of waxed cotton cord over the banners and then add a little natural clothespin on top of the cord. Attach the entire panel to the Kraft card front and the card is complete.

It's time for another "Anything Goes" Challenge ( one of my favorites ) over at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog so I will be linking this card up over there. I hope you enjoyed my tutorial today! I will be back in a day or two with another project. Thanks for visiting!

Catch Of The Day

3.23.2015

Hello everyone and Happy Monday! Super excited to share my first card using products from one of Canvas Corps newest lines Classic Nautical. Its so fabulous, so loving all the fun patterns and the sampler sheets are amazing. I used the Navy and Ivory Anchor Paper to create my 5 x 7 card base and the lobster image from the Sand & Sea Art Pages on Kraft Paper as my main focal image. After I had my card base made I layered the text stamped panel and the misted lobster panel together and added the "Catch Of The Day" sentiment to the bottom right of my image with some dark blue hemp rope and a mini clothespin. I also added a little banner towards the top left of my card with a small staple to tie everything together.

I created the misted lobster panel by laying two different colored Tattered Angles mist. I started by misting the panel with Tattered Angles Gerber Baseboard Mist and then I misted it again with Tattered Angles Rum Punch Glimmer Mist. I really love how the color turned out. I hope you enjoyed my card today. I will be back tomorrow with another nautical themed card. Thanks for visiting.
